There are three things you need to know about Fiona Archer… I would tell you what they are, but then I’d have to kill you.

But I can tell you that Fiona’s husband—the always irrepressible and often cantankerous Greg Archer—is desperately in love with his wife. He aches for her when they are apart, and is insatiable when they are together. Yet as the years pass, Greg has begun to suspect that Fiona is a ninja. A ninja mom. A ninja wife. A ninja friend. After fourteen years of marriage, Greg is trying not to panic. Because Fiona’s talent for blending in is starting to resemble fading away.

However, when unexpected events mean Fiona must take center stage to keep her family safe, her response stuns everyone—Greg most of all. It seems like Greg’s wish has come true.

Except… not.

When all is said and done, can Greg handle this new version of his wife? Will his irrepressible cantankerousness push her away? Or can the couple find a way forward without either being forced to step back into the shadows?

This is a full length, 100k word novel, and is the 5th book in the Knitting in the City Series. All books in the series can be read as a standalone except book #1.5

My Review:

4.5 stars
That was a super interesting read.
One of the things that I love of Penny’s read is that there’s something smart and witty about them. It’s the characters and the language, the concepts and the humor. The combination of all those things plus a fun story always works for me. And Happily Ever Ninja didn’t dissapoint in that regard.
The book was kind of weird, as Penny warned us before it was released. But I honestly thought it was going to be extremely bizarre, and it wasn’t. It was just different from the other books in the series, and for that I’m really grateful.
The characters were awesome, both male and female lead, plus the children and second characters. Also we got to see the character from the other books and that was lovely. I really like Greg (the male lead) He was swooning worthy and so charming since the prequel, and Fiona… Well she was admirable as a woman, a badass and so kind, I love her, even though at times I wanted to shake her and tell her to just speak her mind without the fear.
The plot was different, but badass and it had a level of action that was fun to read and had me at the edge of my sit.
I honestly can say the book was awesome and I totally recommend not only this book but also the rest of Penny’s titles. Her books and stories are amazing, different and fun to read. Can’t wait to keep reading the rest of the series!

P.S. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

About the Author

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

Synopsis

Damon Atwood was Hollywood’s golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Thirteen years later he’s finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London’s West End.

As a choreographer’s assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon’s involvement in her latest gig, she doesn’t predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.

Rose knows that show crushes don’t last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

Synopsis

Once Rose Fisher makes a decision, that’s it. End of story.

Like when her ex, Patrick, dumped her out of the blue, then showed up with a super hot, tatted up sex kitten on his arm. Then it was over for good. The end. Poof. Dead to her. Except he was everywhere — down the hall, at the bar with their friends, worming his way into her dreams.

But with their friends paired off, they’re left alone more and more. Rose is determined to keep him friendzoned — doesn’t matter that he stares at her with a smolder that drops all panties in a ten foot radius. She’s over him, and she’ll prove it by getting back into the dating game, Patrick be damned.

Patrick Evans is no stranger to consequences. When your mother walks out, your dad drifts away. When you leave home, you’re on your own. And when you run away from the girl you love, you lose her. He finally has an opportunity to rebuild the bridge he burned, and it’s not one he’ll take for granted. But he’ll have to fight for her, even if it hurts. Even if it means he’ll walk away brokenhearted. Because deep down, he knows that she’s it for him.

The trick will be to get her to admit she feels it too.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom; she has three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife; even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Review: The Score (Off-Campus #3) by Elle Kennedy

The Score by Elle Kennedy

TheScore.jpg

Synopsis.

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m so late with this review! It’s been such a busy week and I got an ARC but there was a mixed up with the email so I only got it the day the book released, and I had to reread the previous books in the series, because that’s how I like to do things…
Anyway, about the book, I really liked it. It was a cute and some kind of beautiful story. However, I must say that I never saw this relationship coming. There were no chemistry or visibly approach of it in the previous books, so the romance between these two particular characters was kind of sudden to me, and I don’t know if I bought it at first.
However, as the book went on I started to feel things, these butterflies, the chemistry between them and also starting to see when they started to fall for each other. And it was easy to go along with the romance, it just happened but it was there completely.
I really liked that we saw this struggle of the characters with themselves, in terms of relationships and careers. I liked the emotional moments too and I might have even shed a tear somewhere there. I liked that we saw glimpses of the previous characters and maybe of the future stories too.
So yeah, it was a fun read, full of laugh out loud moments, some hot steamy ones and some emotional moments too. Really looking forward for the next book in the series! 🙂

P.S. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
